Robert Redford, the iconic actor and director known for his films like Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid, All The President’s Men, Ordinary People and The Sting, has passed away on September 16. He was 89 years old and died in his sleep at his home in Sundance, Utah. His publicist, Cindi Berger, confirmed the news but did not specify the cause of death. Following the news of his passing, tributes have been pouring in from fans and industry members worldwide. Bollywood stars including Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and many others have expressed their grief over the loss of the Oscar-winning legend.

Anil Kapoor took to his X handle and shared some portraits of Redford along with an emotional message. His post read, "Rest in peace, Robert Redford. From Barefoot in the Park to The Great Gatsby, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting and all the films in between—he was one of the most beautiful, captivating men ever. His personality, that legendary jawline, that smile… beyond compare."

Priyanka Chopra mourned Robert Redford's death by sharing a news article on her Instagram story and wrote, "Icon."

Kareena Kapoor shared a quote from Redford on her Instagram story, which read, "Storytelling is important. Part of human continuity."

She also shared a black and while picture of the late actor and wrote, "In Power Legend."

The news was broken by Cindi Berger, the chief executive of the publicity firm Rogers & Cowan PMK in a statement to the New York Times. Berger shared, "Robert Redford passed away on September 16 at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah - the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved. He will be missed greatly. The family requests privacy."

Robert Redford's six-decade career has boosted his status as a Hollywood legend both for his acting and direction. He rose to stardom with his notable works, including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Sting and he won an Academy Award for Best Director for his 1980 film Ordinary People. Redford made his final on-screen appearance with a cameo in Dark Winds in March 2025.
