Ronit Roy is one of the most admired actors in the TV industry and has worked in several popular serials like Kasautii Zindagi Ki, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Adaalat and Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar among others. Over the years, he has been juggling between TV, movies and OTT platforms, leaving a lasting impact wherever he goes. Currently, the actor can be seen showcasing his skills in the show Chakravarti Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, featuring on Sony Liv. After a long period of time, the actor is making a comeback on the TV screens with the same show.

Ronit Roy shed light on being away from the television industry and revealed during an interview with Screen that he was preoccupied with movies and OTT projects. He said, “The reason for such a long gap in television is obviously because I do films and OTT as well, and I was busy with my other work. Nothing was interesting. When this came up, the producer is a friend and an old colleague, and I did a show called Adaalat with the channel for five years. Luckily, this wasn’t a role where there were too many challenges; only some physical effort was needed to look like a warrior and be able to wield a heavy sword, so I took training for that.”

Talking about the recent downfall in the TV viewership, Ronit Roy explained how the watching habits of the viewers have changed as they want to consume content on the go. With this, the traditional TV format suffers. “We could do a little uptick in the content itself, a time will come where there will be a finite long, long-running series of 50-80 episodes where the storyline is clear. The actors will also have a sense of where they are going; when that time comes, it will be a good one,” he added.
