Bekhayali Credit Row: A fresh controversy has erupted in the music industry after composer Amaal Mallik claimed that the popular Kabir Singh tracks Bekhayali and Mere Sohneya were created by tweaking his original tunes. His comments have now led to a strong public response from music duo Sachet-Parampara, who posted a video on Instagram directly addressing the issue.
In their video, Sachet-Parampara accused Amaal Mallik of repeatedly asserting his involvement in the creation of Bekhayali, a claim they described as misleading and untrue. Their post was accompanied by a sharply worded caption, “Warning. This video could have been a 10-second video, also proving all rumours false, but for our mental peace, exposing some people was very important. @amaal_mallik SHAME ON YOU AMAAL MALIK.”

Sachet-Parampara said they never expected to publicly clarify the matter, but felt compelled to respond due to the seriousness of the claims. Opening their video, they stated, “Hi everyone, we are Sachet and Parampara, and this is regarding something which has become very serious now. This is regarding Mr Amaal Mallik. Actually, we never thought that we would have to clarify all these things, but this is something that we purely created. We are talking about Bekhayali, which Amaal Mallik claims he made some time ago.”
They went on to explain that Bekhayali was created in the presence of the Kabir Singh team, including director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and actor Shahid Kapoor. They said, “We have all the chats with Amaal Mallik; we have all the chats with the Kabir Singh team because the entire Kabir Singh team was there when we created this song. Every melody, every composition, every arrangement, every lyric was done when the entire team was there, and it is purely a Sachet and Parampara original composition.” The duo further clarified that they had no association with T-Series before Kabir Singh, unlike Amaal, who had been part of the label for years. “We were never with T-Series, we were never part of T-Series before Kabir Singh happened. And I think he has been part of T-Series since 2015, if we are not wrong,” they said.
Furthermore, responding to Amaal’s claim that his tunes were shared via WhatsApp and then ‘tweaked’, they questioned why industry insiders would favour newcomers like them. They added that Amaal himself had congratulated them when the song released, which contradicts his present statements. They also said, “I am so sorry that we have to fall so low. And have to tell all these things like this… Amaal, what is the need for you to do all this?” The duo concluded by demanding an apology for the “unverified claims”.

Meanwhile, Amaal Mallik, in an interview, claimed that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had originally locked the entire Kabir Singh album with him. He said the final compositions were merely altered versions of his original ideas and explained that he chose not to confront anyone as he was going through a personally difficult time. There has been no public response from Amaal Mallik to the video so far.
