San Rechal Death: San Rechal Gandhi, a well-known model and social media personality, committed suicide in Puducherry on Sunday. The 26-year-old was well-known for advocating for inclusivity regardless of size and skin colour and for taking a firm stand against colourism in the modeling and entertainment industries.

San Rechal was taken to a government hospital after consuming a lot of pills to end her life, according to the police. After that, she was sent to a private hospital before being transferred to Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), where he eventually took her final breath.Investigators believe she may have taken the drastic measure as a result of intense personal and financial pressure.

Who Was San Rechal Gandhi?

San Rechal Gandhi started modeling when she was quite young. She was the Queen of Madras (2022), Miss Dark Queen Tamil Nadu (2019) and Miss Best Attitude (2019). She was crowned Miss Pondicherry as well in 2022.

San Rechal Gandhi, who had 180K Instagram followers, was also a pageant coach. On social media and even while competing in pageants, San Rechal promoted the use of dark-skinned models in the fashion business. She worked to dispel misconceptions about skin colour in the entertainment sector and was well-known for her anti-colorism views.

San Rechal had established a space for herself in the modeling industry through her work and her opposition to the deeply ingrained fixation on light complexion in Indian fashion and film. She spoke out against the prejudice that dark-skinned people, especially women, had to deal with, and she frequently utilized her position to start crucial discussions about representation and diversity.

Why Did San Rechal Die?

Hours before she passed away, San Rechal reportedly went to her father's house to ask for some money because she was in serious financial trouble. He allegedly refused to give her any money, claiming that he had obligations to his son. The Puducherry based model also sold her jewellery to fund her career in the months prior to her death, but that was insufficient and she was under a great deal of financial strain.

The model, meantime, left a suicide note saying that no one should be held accountable for her passing. Her sudden demise, however, has sparked online debates over mental health, industry demands, and the persistent stigma associated with darker skin tones.
