Legendary actor Satish Shah, known for Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, passed away at the age of 74 on October 25. Ramesh Kadatala, who has been the personal assistant of the actor for over 30 years, said the actor passed away at his residence in Bandra East this afternoon. He confirmed the news to PTI and said, "It seems he passed away from a heart attack; however, we are awaiting the final reports from the doctor about the reason behind his death." On the other hand, the filmmaker and Shah's friend Ashoke Pandit claimed that he had passed away due to Kidney failure.
Sharing the news, Pandit wrote, “Sad and shocked to inform you that our dear friend and a great actor Satish Shah has expired few hours ago due to kidney failure . He was rushed to Hinduja hospital where he breathed his last . A great loss to our industry . Om Shanti.”
Satish Shah was a popular actor who worked in various television shows and movies. He gained popularity for his comic roles. The late actor made his film debut in 1978 with Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan. He made a mark in his career with his performance in the 1983 movie Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, in which he played multiple roles. Shah’s acting career spanned over five decades. Over the years, he appeared in over 250 movies, including hits like Hum Saath Saath Hain, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Om Shanti Om. But he became a household name after he appeared in the popular television show, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai. Not only did he gain huge fame, but his character Indravardhan became an iconic character in the television industry. He was also associated with comedy reality shows like Comedy Cirucs, which marked a significant point in his career.

Shah's death created a shockwave in the industry. Several celebrities took to their X to share their condolences with the family of the late actor. Satyajeet Dubey tweeted, “Deeply saddened to hear about Satish Shah sir’s passing. He was such an incredible actor, he lit up every frame he was in. I had the privilege of working with him in my debut film Always Kabhi Kabhi, and his warmth and brilliance have stayed with me ever since.”

Johny Lever wrote on Instagram, “Feeling extremely sad to share that we’ve lost a great artist & my dearest friend of over 40 years. It’s hard to believe—I had spoken to him just two days ago. Satish Bhai, you will truly be missed. Your immense contribution to film and television will never be forgotten. @sats.workplace.”
His death marks the end of an era in the entertainment industry.
