Sarzameen has been a topic of discussion thanks to its casting and powerful storyline. Directed by Kayoze Irani, the film stars Ibrahim Ali Khan, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol. Ever since the trailer was unveiled, Ibrahim's role as the antagonist has grabbed attention. After playing a romantic boy in his acting debut, Nadaaniyan opposite Khushi Kapoor, he is now all set to portray an intense role. Sarzameen is set to premiere on JioHotstar on July 25. Ahead of its digital premiere, Kayoze opened up about Ibrahim's character and called it the 'most complex' in the movie. He also revealed what he expected from him, character-wise.
Sarzameen Director Shares Details About Ibrahim's Role
Kayoze revealed how he transformed Ibrahim's chocolate boy image to a complex rebel in Sarzameen. He plays Harman, the disciplined son of an Indian army officer, who is caught between shadowed memories and unsettling truths and eventually joins a militant group. The director in an interview with Mid-Day said, "Iggy is handsome, charming, and gorgeous. But what I wanted from him, character-wise, was less of Ibrahim and more of the role."
He added, “He has the most complex character in the film. [To showcase] the many layers in his character, we went from big beard, small beard, long hair, short hair, to rugged looks. I wanted to stay away from the ‘chocolate boy’ looks and Pataudi genes, so we went all out. I didn’t want him to have that amazing hair and be cute at all.”

Praising Ibrahim and his dedication to the character rather than just playing a hero. Kayoze stated, “Ibrahim was always focused on being the character, not just the hero.”
About Sarzameen: A story of an army officer's unrelenting fight against terrorists in Kashmir. Actor Prithiviraj plays the role of the army officer, while Kajol appears as his wife, who becomes a mediator between the father-son duo. Ibrahim Ali Khan plays the role of their son. Having a troubled bond with his father, he is portrayed as a rebellious son. He joins terrorists, locks horns with his father and stands against his nation.
