Actress Dipika Kakar was recently diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer after the doctors found a tennis ball-sized tumour in her liver. After going through a 14-hour-long surgery, the actress was declared cancer-free. Her husband Shoaib Ibrahim keeps sharing her health updates through his YouTube channel and has once again talked about Dipika’s condition after a month of getting surgery. Shoaib shared that Dipika has no cancer cells, but the tumour was classified as ‘grade three and poorly differentiated’ and was ‘quite aggressive’. He also added that there are chances of recurrence of the tumour.
Shoaib Ibrahim mentioned in his vlog that as a part of the recovery process, Dipika Kakar will undergo targeted therapy. He also recalled the time when she underwent her surgery, and he sat by the window, extremely worried, waiting for the doctor’s update. Talking about the chances of recurrence of the cancer, he said, “Earlier, we thought that maybe if the tumour was removed, then everything would be fine. As far as the body is concerned, there are currently no cancer cells present. However, the biopsy report that we received and the PET scan we reviewed indicated a more serious situation.”

He further stated, “The tumour was classified as grade three and poorly differentiated, which means it was quite aggressive. Uske chances kaafi hote hai re-occur karne ki (The chances of re-occurring are significant).” Ajooni actor also shared that there are two methods of treatment - immunotherapy (via IV drip) and targeted therapy (oral medicines), and the actress will start with the second one.
The TV star explained to his fans that Dipika will start her new journey from next week and also revealed that it can be a long process, which can continue for up to 2 years. He said, “After the surgery, the doctor prescribed medication. Although there are no cancer cells now, if any are detected in the future, the dosage will be increased, and she will receive medication intravenously...Her new journey will start next week. Yeh treatment ek saal, dedh saal ya do saal bhi jaa sakta hai (The treatment can go from one year to two years). Scans will be conducted every three weeks.”
