The BBC World Service has released a documentary on the life of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala aka Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, who was shot dead on May 29, 2022, near Mansa. The releae of the documentary, titled The Killing Call, comes despite his father Balkaur Singh's objections. Singh had also filed a petition in court to ban the documentary from screening. However, the court will hear the plea on Thursday.
Why is Sidhu Moosewala's father asking for ban on documentary?
Balkaur Singh Sidhu expressed concerns about the disclosure of new information, stating that it includes interviews with people named in the FIR related to Moosewala's murder. The documentary also has an audio interview with gangster Goldy Brar, who allegedly masterminded Moose Wala's murder. The Killing Call also reveals untold stories of the singer.

The Killing Call follows the early life of Sidhu Moosewala. It focuses on how the Punjabi singer rose to fame despite controversies. The documentary also highlights the events that led to his assassination. "On 29 May 2022, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was murdered by hired gunmen who tracked his car, shot him through the windshield, and left him to die," read the YouTube video's description of BBC.

Fans of the late Punjabi singer were left emotional after watching the much-anticipated documentary his life and dead. While some fans called it 'unethical' as it was released without Mooswala's father's permission. Sidhu Moosewala's Murder
Known for his chart-topping tracks and global recognition, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in his car on 29 May 2022 in Jawaharke village of Mansa at age of 28. This came after Sidhu’s security was downgraded in preparation for the anniversary of Operation Blue Star. The 295 hitmaker was left with two commandos instead of the earlier four. Moosewala was travelling in his private car and not the bullet-proof vehicle with the commandos, as per his friends.
