Can Son Of Sardaar 2 outperform its predecessor?

The 2012 film Son of Sardaar, starring Ajay Devgn, received mixed reviews from critics but performed well at the box office. While its screenplay was criticised, the film's humour, cast performances, stylised action sequences and familiar tone were praised. Son of Sardaar had a strong opening, with around 70 per cent occupancy at multiplexes. The film earned approximately Rs 10.7 crore on its opening day. On the other hand, the sequel's opening day collection is estimated to be in the range of Rs 3-7 crore.

It's uncertain whether Son of Sardaar 2 can outperform its predecessor. The film's success will depend on positive word of mouth, audience reception, and how well it can compete with other films in theaters.

Trade Analyst Weighs In On Son Of Sardaar 2

Trade analyst Atul Mohan is cautiously optimistic about Son of Sardaar 2's prospects, citing Ajay Devgn's comedic talent and the original film's brand value. While acknowledging the competition from Saiyaara and War 2, Mohan believes a well-made film can still perform well and given Ajay Devgn's involvement, there are hopes for the sequel's success.

"You can’t judge a film by just watching the trailer. Once you start a movie, you become a part of its journey and get involved. The punches might appear old, but in what situation they have been executed is to be seen in the film. As they say, you can’t judge a book by its cover. You can’t judge a film by its two-minute trailer unless you become a part of the film’s journey," he said.
