Sonam Bajwa portrays Adaa, a free-spirited actor, while Harshvardhan Rane plays Vikramaditya, a powerful politician in Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. The romantic drama has been criticised for purportedly supporting dominating behaviour, harassment, and a man's inability to say 'no.' Sonam Bajwa defended the depiction, saying that she doesn't watch movies to gain something out of them, in an exclusive conversation with The Daily Jagran. She supported the film's artistic decisions but also understood that viewers had a right to their opinion, noting that it has also gotten a ton of positive reviews.
Sonam Bajwa said, "For me, when I pick a project, or even as audience. when I watch something, I watch it from a point of view, what moves me or what kind of emotions is that going to evoke in me? What kind of genre do I enjoy? I don't watch a film to learn something out of it."
Sonam Bajwa revealed that, although she isn't inspired by a movie role, she might watch a film to get insight as an actor. "I may watch it as an actor to learn something out of it, but I do not watch a film saying that I'm going to take a life lesson from it. It may encourage me, maybe some character or something, but honestly speaking, I have never been inspired by a film character. I may be inspired by some actors, how they are in real life, how they have accomplished few things, but I don't watch movies to take life lessons. So, when I take a project, when I watch a movie, it's purely on a basis of my acquired taste for art or for movies. So, I have zero judgment for art, for cinema, for the characters. So, my thinking doesn't go that way," she shared.

Sonam Bajwa acknowledged that viewers are entitled to their opinions and said she has no judgment towards those who found Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat toxic. She believes every perspective is valid and expressed that what matters most to her is that people were still able to connect with some part of the movie.
She added, "Having said that, everyone has a right to have an opinion, and people who find it toxic, I'm not judging them either. That's their point of view, and I totally respect that. But, I didn't have any judgment while choosing the film, and I still don't. I'm just happy that people were able to relate to some parts, enjoy it, and I just keep it till that, to be honest."
Harshvardhan Rane On Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Being Called 'Cringe'
In the same conversation, Harshvardhan Rane shared his take on people calling the romantic drama 'cringe.' "I'm a second year student of psychology honours and I came across this test done towards candidates where a photo is shown and you ask the candidates that what do you see and most of the times all candidates give a different answer so that goes to show the value of understanding and respecting individual differences and there are some eight factors which I have read in first year but actually there are some 180 factors what makes you different from her," he said.
Respecting and valuing each individual's opinion, the actor continued, "I value human beings with their individual differences and I don't see life in any other way and when I get out of my house every day I'm ready for ready for retaliation I'm ready to get a resistance but I respect that perspective so that's the way of life I can't change that it's how human beings are made and that's the beauty of human beings that we all are different and that's a way to take that actually."
