Tehran On OTT: Tehran is one of the highly-anticipated movies of the year. The film stars John Abraham, Neeru Bajwa and Manushi Chillar in lead roles. Tehran is all set to stream on Zee5 from August 15, 2025. Ahead of its release, do you know Tehran is based on the 2012 real-life attacks on Israeli diplomats? Here is all you need to know if you are excited to watch the film.
2012 Attacks On Israeli Diplomats
On February 13, 2012, a bomb exploded on an Israeli diplomatic car in New Delhi, India, injuring four people - one embassy staff member, a local employee, and two passersby. Simultaneously, another bomb was discovered planted in a car near the Israeli embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia, which was defused by Georgian police. This incident was part of the Iran-Israel proxy conflict, with tensions escalating between the two countries in the preceding months.
Attack In New Delhi
The attack in New Delhi targeted the wife of Israel's defense attaché, Tal Yehoshua Koren, who sustained moderate injuries requiring surgery. Investigations by Indian authorities suggested the involvement of Iranian Revolutionary Guards, with Delhi Police concluding that terrorists linked to Iran's military were responsible. An Indian journalist, Mohammad Ahmad Kazmi, was arrested and charged in connection with the attack for allegedly conducting reconnaissance with three Iranian nationals.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blamed Iran for the incidents, stating that Iran is the greatest exporter of terrorism worldwide. The Iranian foreign ministry, however, condemned the attacks and denied any involvement.
