Rajinikanth is gearing up for his next anticipated movie Thalaivar 173. The movie is being produced by Kamal Haasan. However, it has hit a roadblock after director Sundar C's exit from the project. If the reports in Sacnilk are to be believed, Dhanush is being considered to direct Thalaivar 173. Neither the production house nor the actor has given any confirmation regarding it.

Days after Sundar C was announced as the director of Thalaivar 173, he stepped away from it, citing 'unforseen and unavoidable circumstances'. Reacting to the same, Kamal Haasan told the reporters, "undar C has explained the reason for his withdrawal from the project through a press release. I don't have anything to add to it." "Until my star is satisfied with the script, we will keep scouting for it. We are currently in the process of finalising a quality script," he further added.

Earlier, in his press release, Sundar C had stated, "In life, there are moments when we must follow the path laid out for us, even if it diverges from our dreams. My association with these two icons (Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan) goes back a long way. I will always hold them in the highest regard."
