Tumbbad 2: Sohum Shah Joins Forces With Pen Studios, Renowned For Blockbusters RRR And Gangubai Kathiawadi

Actor-producer Sohum Shah and his banner, Sohum Shah Films, have officially announced their collaboration with Pen Studios, led by industry stalwart Mr. Jayantilal Gada, for the much-anticipated sequel, Tumbbad 2. Released in 2018, Tumbbad broke new ground in Indian cinema, blending mythology, fantasy, and horror into a genre-defining masterpiece. While it began as a sleeper hit, the film went on to shatter box office expectations with its re-release last year. Over the years, it has achieved cult status globally, often cited as one of the finest Indian films in the genre, and continues to be celebrated at international festivals and by cinephiles across the world.

Now, with Tumbbad 2, the makers promise to take audiences deeper into the universe that redefined fantasy-horror in India. Backed by Pen Studios—renowned for delivering landmark blockbusters like RRR and Gangubai Kathiawadi—the project is set to go on floors early next year.

Speaking about the collaboration, Actor and Producer Sohum Shah shared, "I have looked up to Jayantilal Gada ji’s work for many years. When I met him to discuss Tumbbad 2, within just five minutes he locked the deal. It’s the kind of faith every storyteller dreams of. The appreciation, respect, and love he showed towards Tumbbad made me realize the film had truly received its due."
