Varanasi, SS Rajamouli's much-awaited magnum opus, is scheduled for release in 2027. The official page of the movie shared a clip from Trethayuga, Lanka Nagaram, 7200 BCE on Wednesday on n X (earlier Twitter). Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran's starrer made headlines as rumours about its release date went viral. The rumours of a potential Ram Navami 2027 release for Varanasi have been fueled with this announcement.
Varanasi video showed Hanuman along with several other people engaged in what seemed to be a combat. The vocalists chant Ram in the chorus as the video comes to a close. Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli revealed that he has filmed a significant Ramayana episode in the movie, which is situated in Kasi, during a grand event in Hyderabad last year.

Mahesh Babu's fans are getting excited about the potential release date around Ram Navami. According to 123 Telugu, Varanasi's theatrical release date was set for April 9, 2027. The crew may release a special update on March 26, 2026, in conjunction with the Sri Rama Navami holiday, according to recent rumours surrounding the movie. As of right now, this has not been officially confirmed.
SS Rajamouli revealed that they shot Ramayana segment for 60 days. He also mentioned that Mahesh Babu will appear as Lord Ram in the magnum opus. "Since my childhood, I've spoken many times about what the Ramayana and Mahabharata mean to me, and how making them is my dream project. I never imagined I would get to shoot an important episode from the Ramayana this early. While writing every scene and every dialogue, I felt like I was floating."
Varanasi is based on idea of time travel, as per several reports. The large-scale production of this movie is raising the audience's expectations daily. Under the name Sri Durga Arts and Showing Business, director SS Rajamouli, writer V Vijayendra Prasad, and composer MM Keeravani are the principal producers of the soon-to-be-released blockbuster film Varanasi.
Varanasi is reportedly mounted on a massive budget of Rs 1000 crore.
