Varun Dhawan is gearing up for the release of Border 2, one of his most ambitious big-screen spectacles. Ahead of the film’s release, the actor held #Varunsays on X (formerly Twitter) and shared interesting insights into his role, the film, and the challenges her overcame while shooting the film. A user asked Varun to share his experience of playing Major Hoshiar Singh in Border 2, to which Varun replied, “I feel blessed will be meeting his family soon. He is a hero like no one else."
While sharing insights of his preparation, the actor revealed he injured his tailbone while shooting the battle of Basantar. "Bahut prepare karna tha. I infact injured my tail bone while shooting the battle of Basantar. I shot 40 days in Babina for that with real soldiers," he shared. Varun will be seen stepping into the shoes of Colonel Hoshiar Singh Dahiya PVC, who led his troops with unflinching courage during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war and was awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his heroism.
About Border 2: Border 2 is an upcoming Hindi-language epic action war film, co-written and directed by Anurag Singh. Serving as a sequel to J. P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 film Border, the project brings together a powerful creative team, with production helmed by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar under the T-Series banner, alongside J. P. Dutta and Nidhi Dutta. The film aims to carry forward the legacy of the original while presenting a contemporary take on large-scale war storytelling.
The film boasts an ensemble cast led by Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty, supported by Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh and Medha Rana in pivotal roles. Border 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026, strategically timed with the Republic Day weekend, setting the stage for a patriotic cinematic spectacle.

Border 2 was officially announced on June 13, 2024, by J. P. Dutta, Bhushan Kumar and Sunny Deol to mark the 27th anniversary of the original film. While Sunny Deol was confirmed as the lead, the makers chose not to disclose details about the other characters at the time of the announcement.
