Kamini Kaushal Death: The Hindi film industry has witnessed another heartbreaking loss with the passing of veteran actress Kamini Kaushal at the age of 98. Known as one of the finest performers of Indian cinema’s golden era, she reportedly died after facing age-related health issues. The news was shared by senior journalist Vickey Lalwani, who confirmed it through a reliable source. Her family, known to be extremely private, has asked for quiet and space during this difficult time. With her passing, India bids farewell to a legendary artist whose presence shaped the early years of Hindi cinema and influenced generations of performers.

Who Is Kamini Kaushal?

Born Uma Kashyap on 24 February 1927 in Lahore, Kamini Kaushal left an unforgettable mark on Indian cinema. She began her journey with Neecha Nagar (1946), a film that went on to win the prestigious Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. Between 1946 and 1963, she played lead roles opposite legendary actors like Ashok Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Raaj Kumar and Dilip Kumar. Her performance in Biraj Bahu earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in 1956. Some of her most celebrated films include Do Bhai, Shaheed, Nadiya Ke Paar, Ziddi, Shabnam, Paras, Arzoo, Aabroo, Jailor, Night Club and Godaan. She appeared in over 90 films and also worked on television, especially in the popular Doordarshan show Chand Sitare.

Meanwhile, Kamini Kaushal gracefully reinvented herself over the decades. Many fans may also remember her as Shah Rukh Khan’s grandmother in Chennai Express and as part of Laal Singh Chaddha. She also played Shahid Kapoor’s grandmother in Kabir Singh. Interestingly, she was Dharmendra’s first-ever co-star in his debut film Shaheed (1948). About Kamini Kaushal’s Family

Kamini Kaushal was the daughter of Prof. Shiv Ram Kashyap, widely regarded as the father of Indian Botany. She married Braham S. Sood, a chief engineer in the Bombay Port Trust, and is survived by her sons Shravan, Vidur and Rahul Sood. The family is yet to release an official statement. Her passing marks the end of an extraordinary chapter in Indian cinema.
