Vidhu Vinod Chopra is a celebrated filmmaker, screenwriter and producer, who is known for his commendable contribution to Indian cinema. His production banner Vinod Chopra Films has delivered some of the most noteworthy movies of all time like PK, 3 Idiots, Munna Bhai series, Sanju among others. These movies have helped him garner fame and have established faith in people towards his work. He has given a chance to many filmmakers who are now successful but started their initial days with him. Vidhu Vinod Chopra recently talked about some actors who started their career with him, but later on changed in life after tasting success.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra recently sat down with director Jaskunwar Kohli during a Creator x Creator episode hosted by SCREEN. Jaskunwar Kohli, who made the documentary Zero Se Restart, based on 12th Fail (Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s project), wanted to know Chopra’s philosophy behind working with people and why he showed a keen interest in working with newcomers.

Talking about the same, Vidhu Vinod Chopra expressed that there is purity in new people, they are less corrupted. He shared that many filmmaker who started their journey with him have now changed, and he can easily see the difference. “When they worked with me, there was a certain purity. Unfortunately, if I cast a new face in my film and that one movie does well, it changes them,” he said.

Without mentioning any filmmaker's name, Vidhu Vinod Chopra talked about some of the most successful stars of Bollywood and revealed how fame has changed them a lot. “Hrithik Roshan, Vidya Balan and Boman Irani all did films with me at the start of their careers, and the list goes on. As they become successful, they change. That’s why I like people who are nobodies because once you become somebody, you don’t remain the same person,” he said.

Mr Chopra also pointed out that directors and producers don’t care about what the actor is creating; they only think about whether the movie is a hit or not. He stated that no one has a vision these days, and no one makes movies for the joy of creating. “They make one massive film with a Rs 400 crore box office collection, and suddenly they start walking differently,” the filmmaker explained. He further added, “These days the spine is always connected to the bank balance and not the quality of their work.”

Interestingly, Paresh Rawal once accused Vidhu Vinod Chopra for changing after becoming successful. In one of his interviews with The Lallantop, Paresh Rawal revealed that Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s changed behaviour made him turn down a role in Munna Bhai.
