Vijay Varma Opens Up About Witnessing Fatima Sana Shaikh’s Seizure On Gustaakh Ishq Set: 'She Had Given Us Guidelines...'

Actor Vijay Varma spoke about a terrifying moment on the sets of Manish Malhotra’s upcoming film Gustaakh Ishq, where he witnessed his co-star Fatima Sana Shaikh suffer a seizure. Fatima, who has been vocal about living with epilepsy, has often discussed her condition publicly, but Vijay’s recollection sheds new light on the courage and challenges she faces while continuing her work.

In an interview with Mashable India, Vijay shared that Fatima had already informed him and a few essential crew members about the possibility of a seizure and had thoughtfully briefed them on how to handle the situation if it occurred. "She had given us guidelines of what to do," he said, admitting that at first he assumed she might be exaggerating or trying to spook them, not realising how real and serious the moment would become.

The warning soon turned into reality when, late at night near pack-up, Vijay heard a sudden sound and rushed to find Fatima in the middle of a seizure. He admitted feeling overwhelmed and helpless at first, but quickly remembered the steps she had taught him. With the team’s help, they cleared a bed, gently laid her down and made sure she had space until the seizure subsided. Vijay stayed by her side, keeping a comforting hand on her head and later accompanied her back to the hotel. He shared that although she regained consciousness by the time they arrived, she couldn’t fully recall what had happened.
