Vikrant Massey was conferred with the National Film Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The film is based on the life of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame challenges to clear the UPSC exam and become an IPS officer. After delivering phenomenal performance throughout his career, Vikrant's work was finally recognised with the highest honour in Indian cinema. The actor called this moment 'dreamlike' and shared his heartfelt gratitude in a post featuring his wife, Sheetal Thakur.
Taking to Instagram, National Award winner Vikrant shared a series of photos flaunting his silver medal. Along with the post, he wrote, " "I’ve been thinking since yesterday What should I write? How do I thank all of you?. And I’m still unable to. So hopefully a simple thank you from the bottom heart would suffice I’m grateful beyond words for your continued support in my journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you each one of you This dreamlike life is only because of you."

Vikrant shares this special honour with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who bagged the award for his role in Jawan.
12th Fail received two honours, besides Best Actor, Vidhu Vinod Chopra's direction also earned the Best Feature Film award from President Droupadi Murmu. The movie also starred Anshumaan Pushkar and Priyanshu Chatterjee in key roles, with the screenplay written by Chopra and Jaskunwar Kohli.
The story of grit, failure, and determination resonated with audiences across the country, turning the film into a box-office success and earning National Award honours.
The ceremony also recognised other talented individuals and films, including Rani Mukerji, who won the Best Actress award for her powerful role as a mother in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.
Meanwhile, Vikrant Massey has an exciting lineup of projects in store for his fans. He will be seen playing the role of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the international thriller White, which began filming in August 2025.
