Rishi Kapoor and comedian Vir Das have starred together in movies like Love Aaj Kal and Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi. But the duo shared a memorable and hilarious screenspace during a scene from Namastey London. Recently, Vir Das recalled his meeting with the late actor Rishi Kapoor and shared a funny incident from their accidental meetup. Vir Das recently appeared on Sakshi Shivdasani and Naina Bhan’s Moment of Silence podcast and revealed that he once witnessed a verbal fight between one of the most iconic Bollywood couples, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor.
Vir Das shared that once he had an awkward meeting with Rishi Kapoor and the late actor called him a cool guy. He said, “Rishi Kapoor is like, ‘Beta, tera naam kya hai?’ I said, ‘Sir, Vir Das.’ He said, ‘Shake my hand, son.’ When you shake Rishi Kapoor’s hand, you become Tina Munim from Karz. You know what I mean? All your masculine energy just drains, and you are his heroine in that moment. So, I’m just shaking his hand and I’m like, ‘It’s the dude from Karz, right? Shaking my hand, and he’s like, ‘Beta, tu bohot accha actor hai. Shake my hand and promise me you’ll keep acting.'”

After five years, Vir Das again ran into Rishi Kapoor while boarding a flight. He recounted Rishi Kapoor’s bickering with his wife Neetu Kapoor and said, “I’m in the back of a flight, and like in the front of the flight, I hear some chikad chikad happening between a couple in business class, ‘You can’t eat the cake.’ ‘I want to eat the cake.’ ‘You’re not allowed to eat the cake. The doctor said no cake.’ ‘I want the bloody cake. What the f**k?’ Then, Rishi Kapoor stands up.”
He further stated that the actor stood up and came to sit beside him. “He’s like, ‘Arre, Vir.’ He comes and sits down next to me, and he tells me this story. He’s like you know… and he gave me this list of guys who started with him. Then at some point, he’s like, ‘You’re going to eat your cake?’ Then Rishi Kapoor ate my cake,” he revealed.
Further during the interview, Vir Das recalled his shooting time on the sets of Namastey London and shared that he was sitting in the scorching heat on the terrace along with Rishi Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Nina Wadia and a lady who played the role of his mother in the movie. He added, “There is an umbrella over Rishi Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Nina Wadia’s heads. But me and my mother are baking in the sun. We are the only two sweaty people in this beautiful Bollywood scene.”
