War 2: The countdown for the much-awaited film of the year, War 2, has officially begun. The film is slated to release in theatres on August 14, eyeing for long Independence Day weekend. Starring for the first time together on screen, Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani and Jr NTR, the movie is a high-octane action and spy drama. Ahead of the release, Ayan Mukerji’s directorial has to go through some changes as asked by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, the censor board asked the makers to carry out multiple audio and visual modifications. CBFC suggested to mute ‘inappropriate references’ in six places in War 2. An ‘obscene’ dialogue was completely replaced with a toned-down sentence. A two-second obscene gesture appearing after a controversial dialogue was ordered to be removed. In another directive, the censor board asked the makers to tone down the sensual visuals by 50 per cent, amounting to a cut of approximately nine seconds. The visuals are reportedly from Kiara Advani’s bikini sequence in the film. After the edits were carried out, CBFC got a U/A 16+ certificate on August 6, with its original runtime of 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 49 seconds.

Two days later, the makers approached CBFC to make further tweaks, which were not in the content but in the length of the film. They trimmed the movie’s duration by eight minutes, bringing it down to 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 44 seconds (171.44 minutes). These cuts were done for pacing purposes as CBFC did not request any additional deletions. The action sequences in the film are as same as before.
