Toxic
Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups was expected to be one of the biggest theatrical events of 2026. Yash led the film, and the cast included Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini. Geetu Mohandas directed it. Despite the hype and the big names, it became one of the year's biggest financial failures. It earned Rs 342.26 crore worldwide gross.

The Raja Saab
Prabhas plays a man who goes looking for his missing grandfather and ends up in a haunted mansion. Critics and audiences both disliked the film. Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, Riddhi Kumar and Zarina Wahab also star.
War 2
Hrithik Roshan led War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji. Jr NTR, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Ashutosh Rana also starred.
The film was criticised for its tangled plot twists, which often gave up emotion for CGI spectacle. Many viewers also felt the female characters were sidelined or written only for the male gaze.

Game Changer
Shankar directed Game Changer (2025), and it was expected to be a pan-India blockbuster. The political action drama, which also stars Kiara Advani, fell short of expectations. It ended its run as a box office disaster.
Thug Life
Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's Thug Life had everything needed for a strong gangster film. But too many subplots competed for attention, and the characters felt underdeveloped. Scenes felt rushed. The film borrows the look of those classics without their emotional depth.
Bade Miyan Chote Miyan
This 2024 action thriller starred Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manushi Chhillar, Alaya F and Sonakshi Sinha.
Critics called the script shallow and borrowed from Hollywood action films. On X, many viewers called it a loud and empty film.
Kanguva
Kanguva is a fantasy action-adventure set in the medieval period. Suriya plays a tribal warrior, Bobby Deol makes his Tamil debut as the main villain, and Disha Patani plays the female lead.
The film was criticised for its constant screaming, very loud sound design and messy action editing.
Adipurush
Prabhas and Kriti Sanon led Adipurush, a mythological epic inspired by the Ramayana. The film drew heavy criticism over its CGI, dialogues and its take on familiar characters. The backlash hurt its theatrical run and overshadowed its big production.
Samrat Prithviraj
The film draws on Prithviraj Raso, the 13th-century poem written by Chand Bardai, the court poet of Prithviraj Chauhan.
It opened to mixed-to-negative reviews and failed at the box office. The story did not pull viewers in. The 29-year age gap between the leads, Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chhillar, did not help.
On paper, these films had a lot going for them. They were period dramas, fantasy adventures, action spectacles and romantic sagas. But weak storytelling, poor reviews, high budgets or audience fatigue hurt their box office run.
