Huma Qureshi, who debuted in 2012 with Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur, revealed that her family was skeptical and worried about her decision to pursue a career in movies.  The actor, who most recently starred in Maharani 4, remembered her parents' reaction to her first movie offer. She was commended for her performance. Her parents believed that her performance was a part of some unholy nexus, despite the fact that everyone else was thrilled about it. Huma Qureshi disclosed that her parents honestly thought it was a 'prostitution racket' since they were so concerned about their daughter being approached for a movie role.

Huma Qureshi recounted the first time she said she wanted to work in Bollywood and how her family didn't think it was a real possibility in an interview with Mid-Day India. "My parents didn't believe it. They thought, why would somebody cast you? I think it's the most audacious thing they had heard. They thought it was a prostitution racket; they were convinced."

Huma Qureshi added, "Now, when I look back at them, I'm like, you really had no faith in my ability to gauge anything for myself. But yeah, it took a bit of convincing, and of course, my parents don't come from this world. Even now, I don't think they have too much understanding of the ways of the industry."

Huma Qureshi made the decision to seize the chance in spite of her reservations. She claimed that after reading the screenplay at the office, she was called in for a screen test the next day. Huma confessed that she was saddened that the movie was never produced.

"I went to the office, I read the script, the next day they called me for a screen test, and by the same afternoon they told me that I’m in. However, the film never got made, so that was sad. When I went back home, I was fully convinced that I had a shot here if I moved cities, because maybe I’ve got what it takes. But then I had to convince my parents," Huma Qureshi recalled.
