Assam DSP Sandipan Garg, cousin of Zubeen Garg, has been arrested in connection with the death of the late singer. Sandipan accompanied Zubeen on a trip to Singapore and is the fifth person taken into custody as part of the ongoing probe, according to a senior police officer. He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court after being arrested in connection with Zubeen Garg death case, earlier today. Sandipan has now been sent to 7 days of custody by court, despite a 14-day request.

As per PTI, CID Special DGP M. P. Gupta told reporters, "We have sought 14 days of custody for Chandigarh. But the court has granted 7 days of custody. We cannot share further details as the investigation is still ongoing." Gupta further stated that Roop Kamal Kalita, who lives in Singapore, has appeared before the SIT for the second day and he is ready to send charges to other NRIs present at the yacht party on the day of Zubeen Garg's tragic death.

Sandipan Garg cooperated with the SIT during questioning last week. His recent arrest has added a new twist to the high-profile case, drawing significant public and cultural attention in Assam.

An SIT formed under CM Himanta Biswa Sarma's orders has arrested five people, including Sandipan Garg, in connection with a case involving Zubeen Garg. The arrested individuals include Zubeen Garg's manager Siddharth Sharma, music festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, instrumentalist Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and singer Amrit Prabha Mahanta. The latter two were sent to 14-day custody for further questioning.

For the unversed, Zubeen's bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami gave a shocking statement after his death. He alleged a planned conspiracy to murder the singer and subsequently cover up the crime. According to a remand note accessed by CNN-News18, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, leveled serious allegations against Siddharth Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta, accusing them of poisoning Zubeen Garg. He further claimed that choosing a foreign venue, particularly the incident at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Singapore, was a deliberate move to mask the murder and portray it as an accidental death.
