Zubeen Garg's unexpected death on September 19, 2025, following a terrible scuba diving mishap, sent shockwaves across country. The legendary singer's family and fans have been devastated with his demise. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed that the 52 year old singer was swimming without a life jacket when he passed away, despite early reports indicating that he died in a scuba diving mishap.
Zubeen Garg's death certificate listed drowning as the cause of death, stated the Assam Chief Minister. As per a report by ANI, the singer's death certificate was sent by the Singapore High Commission. The Assam government has requested the post-mortem report from the Commission. Speaking to media, the Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that the death certificate and the post-mortem report are not the same.
"The Singapore High Commission sent the death certificate of Zubeen Garg, and they mentioned the cause of death is drowning. But this is not a post-mortem report. The post-mortem report and the death certificate are different. We will send the documents to CID. The Chief Secretary of the Assam Government is contacting the Singapore Ambassador to get the post-mortem report as soon as possible," Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
