'Arjun Reddy' is a highly acclaimed Telugu-language film released in 2017, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The movie gained immense popularity and a dedicated fan following for its bold and intense storytelling. It revolves around the titular character, Arjun Reddy, portrayed by Vijay Devarakonda, a medical student with anger management issues and a self-destructive lifestyle due to heartbreak. Interestingly, although Vijay ultimately played the lead character, it's revealed that initially, Allu Arjun was Sandeep Reddy Vanga's first choice for the role.
Not Vijay Devarakonda but Allu Arjun who was the first pick to play the role of Arjun Reddy in the film. Sandeep mentioned that he had presented a story to Allu Arjun in 2011, but it didn't come to fruition. Afterward, he aimed to pitch the 'Arjun Reddy' script to Allu Arjun once more before finalising Vijay for the film. He told India Today, "I narrated Allu Arjun a story in 2011, but it didn't happen. Post that I wanted to narrate 'Arjun Reddy's script to him again, but I couldn't get to him and meet him. This was before I cast Vijay in the film. Then the script went to multiple actors and producers. Then finally I figured out that I should only produce the film."
"Later, I was introduced to Vijay by a friend, and the moment I met him after a couple of weeks, I narrated to him the story of 'Arjun Reddy' and we started shooting. So, yes, I wanted Allu Arjun in my first film," he added.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga wants to work with Allu Arjun
The 'Animal' director is excited to work with Allu Arjun. He revealed, "Yeah, so I have been waiting to work with Allu Arjun, and now I am super excited that we will be working together soon. See, the most important thing is mutual interest in working together, because having an understanding and having an interest in working with each other should be more. So when it's the right time, then it will happen."
Apart from this, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is currently gearing up for his upcoming projects. His next film, titled 'Spirit,' featuring Prabhas, is anticipated to commence filming this year and is slated for a 2025 release. Additionally, he has 'Animal Park' lined up, starring Ranbir Kapoor. This film is a sequel to the 2023 movie 'Animal.'
