It was rumoured that 'OMG 2' has been made on a budget of Rs 150 crore but the makers denied these claims and revealed Akshay Kumar did not charge a rupee.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, Ajit Andhare was asked about the budget of ‘OMG 2.’ He said, “The reports of the budget of OMG 2 are grossly exaggerated. On the contrary, Akshay didn't charge a rupee in fee and in fact, walked alongside us in both the financial and creative risk involved in such a courageous film.”
He further added, “We share a long history and understanding with him as a studio since 'OMG', 'Special 26', and 'Toilet: Ek Prem Katha'. I have been totally in lockstep with him in taking up scripts that are unconventional but stand for something larger and meaningful.”
Apart from Akshay Kumar, 'OMG 2' also stars Yami Gautam in the lead role. The movie revolves around a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva, Kanti Sharan Mudgal, whose son is blamed for immoral conduct and thrown out of school. He decides to leave the town with his family until he has a divine intervention that steers him towards truth.
The first instalment of 'OMG' was directed by Amit Rai and starred Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal in the lead role. It revolved around Kanji Lalji Mehta, who is an atheist but owns a shop of Hindu idols and antiques. After his shop gets destroyed due to an earthquake, he sues god as he is not able to get insurance.
