Oppenheimer hit the theatres on July 21, 2023. Several Indian moviegoers were shocked and amused by the scene featuring Florence Pugh originally naked, but was covered by a CGI-made black dress in Indian prints. 

In the scene, Pugh's character Jean Tatlock, a psychiatrist and physician, is introduced to Cillian Murphy's Robert Oppenheimer. It featured the two performers conversing while they were both naked, but Pugh's body is covered in a black dress in Indian print that was made available to the public in order to conceal the flesh. Here is how the netizens are strongly reacting to the respective scene:

A Twitter user wrote, "Christopher Nolan: No CGI, IMAX cameras, shoot on film for best quality, specific aspect ratio, black and white. Censor board: Let's put a fake dress over the lady!"

Another user tweeted, "The best ever cg work in India award goes to the Indian censor board for florence pugh black dress in #Oppenheimer flawless."

Oppenheimer Bhagavad Scene Retained

While 'Oppenheimer' has become one of the most talked about films of the year, the stellar star cast is also being applauded for its performance, especially Cillian Murphy and Florence Pugh’s s*x scene. The moment in question has been masked in the India edit of 'Oppenheimer', despite the fact that much has been spoken and written about the scene before the movie's release.

In the scene, Pugh's persona requests that Robert Oppenheimer read a passage from the book right before they engage in se*ual activity.

The film is based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin about J. Robert Oppenheimer, a theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons on the Manhattan Project. The movie also highlights the race against time that the Americans faced to complete their bomb before Nazi Germany could finish building theirs.
