The prestigious 95th Academy Awards 2023 ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12, 2023. The ceremony will witness several A-listers arriving at the main event, where artists from around the world will be honoured for their work in 2022.
Nominee for the Best Original Song, Lady Gaga won’t be performing at the Oscars 2023 main event. While other nominees in the category, including RRR song Naatu Naatu will be performed live at the event, Lady Gaga will reportedly be missing out on her performance.
The reason for Lady Gaga’s absence from the Oscars 2023 is said to be her scheduling conflicts with her next film, ‘Joker: Folie a Deux’.
During a recent press conference, producer of the Oscars 2023 Glenn Weiss confirmed the news. “We have great relationships with Lady Gaga and her camp (but) she’s in the middle of shooting a movie right now, and here we are honouring the movie industry and what it takes to make a movie,” said Weiss.
“After a bunch of back and forth, it didn’t feel like she could get a performance to the calibre that we’re used to with her, that she’s used to and all that stuff,” the Academy Awards producer said during the press conference.
Glenn Weiss further added, “So she is not going to perform on the show, however, this is all, from our point of view, about someone making a movie and us completely understanding that that’s what is priority in this business, especially when we are honouring movies.”
RRR song Naatu Naatu, which has become a global phenomenon in the past year, will be performed live by its singers, Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava at the ceremony.
The 95th Academy Awards will also have Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone in attendance as a presenter of an award.
