Phoolan, which is based on Phoolan Devi's book I, Phoolan: The Autobiography of India's Bandit Queen, depicts a pivotal moment in her life when thousands of men seek to assassinate her by trapping her in a village.
Phoolan has been chosen for a Special Presentation at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which takes place from September 10 to 20, 2026, according to Prime Video. It will be showcased at the festival on September 16 at 6 PM ET at the Princess of Wales Theatre.
How To Watch Phoolan On OTT?
Prime Video will release the biopic on Prime Video. The official release date has not been announced yet.

About Phoolan
Phoolan, which is set in the Indian heartland, relates the tale of a poor 17-year-old girl who was ordered to be killed by 2,000 highly armed men and went on to become one of the most well-known outlaws in Indian history. In defiance of action movie standards, the film depicts a violent 48-hour siege.
Anurag Thakur, Vikram Pratap Singh, Aakash Dahiya, Prateek Pachori, and Dev Dutt Budholiya all provide strong performances in crucial roles to support Sneha Kumari in the title role.

Did you know this is not the first story on Phoolan? Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur documented her transformation from a bandit to a member of parliament in the controversial 1994 movie Bandit Queen.
Seema Biswas played Phoolan in the movie, while Nirmal Pandey, Aditya Srivastava, Gajraj Rao, Saurabh Shukla, Manoj Bajpayee, and Raghuvir Yadav played supporting parts. It won three National Film Awards.
