Matka King Season 2: Following the enormous success of Season 1, Prime Video announced today that the second season of its original crime drama series, Matka King, is already in development. With its compelling story of ambition, power, and identity, the high-stakes drama, which was set against the rapidly evolving backdrop of Bombay (now Mumbai) in the 1960s, resonated deeply with viewers.

Matka King Season 2 is in the works, confirmed the streaming giant through its official Instagram handle. "Shuffling the cards for season 2. #MatkaKingOnPrime, season 2 in development," read the caption.

Matka King's first season ranked #1 in 17 countries and trended in the Top 10 across 37 countries within its first week of release, making it the most-watched new scripted series on the service in the previous two years. The series, which has received a great deal of praise from viewers, has demonstrated that audiences in India and throughout the world are emotionally moved by real stories.

Matka King Season 1 Cast And Plot

Matka King was led by Vijay Varma, alongside Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat, and Gulshan Grover in pivotal roles. Bharat Jadhav, Girish Kulkarni, Jamie Lever, Kishor Kadam, Cyrus Sahukar, Arpita Sethiya, Sambhaji Tangade, Ishtiyak Khan, Sanjivv Jotangia, and Simran Ashwini supported the ensemble cast, bringing depth and authenticity to the narrative.

The eight-episode series, which was set against the rapidly evolving backdrop of Bombay (now Mumbai) in the 1960s, followed Vijay Varma as modest cotton trader Brij Bhatti, who turned into a kingpin of illegal gambling after launching a Matka game that swept the city and democratised an area that had previously been exclusive to the wealthy and privileged. As the game developed, Brij's morals started to shift as ambition, wealth, and power took hold.

Created and written by Abhay Koranne and created, written and directed by Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, Season 1 was produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, Gargi Kulkarni, Ashwini Sidwani, and Ashish Aryan under the banners of Roy Kapur Films, Aatpat, and SMR Entertainment.

Matka King Season 1, which debuted on April 17, is only available for streaming on Prime Video in India and 240 other countries and territories.
