Thamma OTT Release: Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, Thamma marks the fifth instalment in Maddock Films’ popular Horror-Comedy Universe, which earlier delivered hits like Stree, Roohi, Bhediya, and Munjya. This new chapter explores a fresh slice of Indian folklore this time diving into vampire mythology. Despite its supernatural backdrop, early viewers believe the film retains the emotional depth and family-friendly humour that made its predecessors successful. Featuring Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka and Ayushmann Khurrana as Alok Goyal, the film follows their journey as they battle the dark force of Yakshaasan and his Betaals blending romance, comedy, and action into a family entertainer.

The release of Thamma has created quite a buzz on social media, with fans calling it one of the most entertaining Diwali releases. Many users took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their excitement, describing the movie as “a perfect Diwali watch.” One viewer called it “an interesting mix of emotion, drama, and unpredictability,” adding that while the first half takes time to set up the story, the second half delivers a fun and thrilling payoff. Another fan wrote, “#Thamma Wow! It’s a film that keeps you fully entertained and satisfied. The direction is brilliant, and every actor delivers an impressive performance.”

Audiences have also praised the cast for their strong performances. A user shared, “What really stands out is the refreshing storyline that keeps you engaged till the very end. #RashmikaMandanna is a delightful surprise her performance feels genuine and heartfelt. As expected, #AyushmannKhurrana and #NawazuddinSiddiqui are in top form, adding depth and energy to every scene.” Another review described the movie as “an experience full of laughter, thrills, and unexpected twists.”

According to a report in OTT Play, the much-awaited horror-comedy will soon be available for streaming on Prime Video. This means that audiences who miss catching it on the big screen won’t have to wait too long to enjoy it from the comfort of their homes. Released on over 4,000 screens across India, Thamma faces tough competition from Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa’s Deewane Ki Deewaniyat at the Diwali box office. Trade experts estimate an opening between Rs 30 to Rs 32 crore, slightly lower than last year’s festive blockbusters like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Returns. However, strong word-of-mouth could help boost its weekend numbers.
