What Happened In Drishyam 1 And 2?

Drishyam followed the quiet life of Georgekutty, which turned upside down after his wife and daughter accidentally killed the son of a powerful Inspector General. The young man had been blackmailing the family, leaving them terrified of what would happen if the truth came out.

Georgekutty used lessons picked up from years of watching films to create an almost perfect cover-up, realising the police would stop at nothing. He carefully planned every move and trained his family to stick to one story during intense police questioning. The biggest twist came when it was revealed that Georgekutty had secretly buried the victim’s body beneath the foundation of the newly built local police station, keeping it hidden in plain sight.

Drishyam 2 began six years later. Georgekutty was now a successful theatre owner, but the shadow of the crime still haunted his family. While they tried to move on, the police continued to monitor them in secret, waiting for one mistake.

The investigation gained fresh momentum when a witness claimed to have seen Georgekutty near the police station on the night the body was buried. The police finally recovered a skeleton and arrested him, believing they had cracked the case.

But Georgekutty once again proved he is ahead of everyone. Over the years, he had quietly prepared for this moment by replacing the victim’s remains at the forensic lab with the help of a graveyard watchman. He also cleverly published a crime novel with a story similar to the murder case. This allowed him to argue that the police were falsely linking fiction to real life. In the end, Georgekutty defeated the system once again, doing everything possible to protect his family.
