Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra took to Instagram to wish her co-star, Diljit Dosanjh, a happy 40th birthday by sharing an exciting new still from their upcoming film, Chamkila. Directed by the renowned Imtiaz Ali, the movie explores the intriguing and tragic life of Amar Singh Chamkila, Punjab’s original rockstar of the masses.

In the shared still, Diljit Dosanjh is seen sporting a wig, hinting at the immersive transformation the actor has undergone for his role as Chamkila. Parineeti Chopra, who plays the role of Amarjot, Chamkila's singing partner and wife, expressed her excitement and birthday wishes in a heartfelt caption.

The film, set to release on Netflix this year, promises a musical journey through the life of Amar Singh Chamkila, who rose from poverty to become a sensation in the 1980s, only to meet a tragic end at the age of 27.

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, with the musical genius AR Rahman composing the soundtrack, Chamkila is expected to offer a captivating blend of storytelling and soulful music. The narrative unfolds the true story of Chamkila's rise to fame, his music that resonated with the masses, and the controversies that eventually led to his unsolved assassination.

Parineeti Chopra, who dedicated six months to recording in Rahman’s studio, revealed her commitment to the role of Amarjot, expressing the challenges of putting on 15 kgs for the character. In a recent Instagram post, she shared a video from the gym, highlighting her dedication to shedding the weight gained for the role.

"I spent 6 months this year singing in Rahman sir’s studio, and going back home to eat as much junk as I possibly could put on 15 kilos for Chamkila! (Coming soon on Netflix) Music and Food. That was my routine. I miss the studio and live in the gym trying to get back to looking like myself again. And not like Amarjot ji! It's been hard. But anything for you Imtiaz sir! And this role.
