Ustaad Bhagat Singh vs Dhurandhar 2: The Indian film industry is buzzing with excitement as two major movies prepare to go head-to-head at the box office this month. Following the announcement that Toxic has been postponed, Pawan Kalyan’s highly anticipated action drama, Ustaad Bhagat Singh moved its release date forward. It is now set to clash with Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller, Dhurandhar 2, on March 19, 2026.
Harish Shankar On Ustaad Bhagat Singh And Dhurandhar 2 Clash
Director Harish Shankar recently opened up about this massive box office confrontation. He clarified that the timing was a strategic decision made by the production team rather than a personal choice. Speaking about the clash Harish Shankar in an interview with Gulte stated, “With all due respect, Aditya Dhar is a superior filmmaker. I watched Uri. He is a very impactful, very influential filmmaker. Having said that, India-wide films should consider Dhurandhar as competition. But we have our Telugu states for the film. Also, they both belong to very different genres. If, in place of Dhurandhar, it was an SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) movie, songs, full entertainer zone, then we would have thought, ‘Oh, it’s similar to our film.’ But Bhagat Singh and Dhurandhar are totally different films.”
Ustaad Bhagat Singh movie's director believes that there is enough room in the market for multiple big-budget films to succeed simultaneously. He noted that the decision was a collective one, saying, “Also, it’s a collective decision. It wasn’t in my hands alone. Somewhere within, I too felt, ‘I am doing a film with Pawan Sir after so long, and for that film to compete with any other big film…’ And still, whether it’s Sankranti or summer, it’s always a combination. There is space for 2-3 big films to work.”
By releasing on March 19, Ustaad Bhagat Singh takes advantage of the Ugadi festival, followed closely by Eid and Rama Navami.

Ustaad Bhagat Singh marks the reunion of Pawan Kalyan and Harish Shankar after their previous hit, Gabbar Singh. The story follows a young man inspired by his teacher to fight against social injustice. The film has officially received a U/A certificate from the censor board and features a runtime of 2 hours and 29 minutes. The cast includes Sreeleela and Raashii Khanna in lead roles, with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad and Thaman. For fans who prefer watching at home, the digital rights have reportedly been sold to Netflix for a staggering amount.
What To Expect From Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar 2?
On the other hand, Dhurandhar 2 sees Ranveer Singh returning as the elite spy Hamza. The first instalment was a massive global success, earning Rs 1300 crore. With early reports suggesting that advance bookings in international markets like Canada are already breaking records, the competition will certainly be one to watch.
