Payal Kapadia’s directorial All We Imagine As Light has made India proud several times as it featured in the 77th Cannes Film Festival and was nominated in two categories at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards. The Malayalam movie was also in the run for Best Foreign Film at the Critics Choice Awards 2025 but lost to Spanish film Emilia Perez. The movie is known for its poetic storytelling about two Malyalali women living in Mumbai. There were two other nominees Flow (Latvia), I’m Still Here (Brazil), Kneecap (Ireland), and The Seed of the Sacred Fig (Germany).
All We Imagine As Light became the first Indian movie to be honoured with the Grand Prix at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
