Peaky Blinders actor Paul Anderson found himself surrounded by controversy after he got caught with heavy drugs on Boxing Day 2024. The actor, who has been playing the role of Arthur Shelby in the widely acclaimed BBC web series, pleaded guilty and was fined a hefty amount. According to the report in the Independent, Paul Anderson was found in possession of class A crack cocaine, class B amphetamines, and two class C prescription substances. He was fined approx Rs 1.42 lakh (£1,345).

Peaky Blinders actor Paul Anderson appeared in court on Thursday (Jan 25) and his lawyer claimed that the 48-year-old actor had not been smoking crack cocaine. As per Mail Online, Anderson's lawyer said, "He has found himself in an unfortunate position and should have had the strength to say no. You will recognise the defendant from a very intense part that he has played in a recent television programme. He is often recognised and does his best to please fans of the show by slipping into character."

She added, "He was recognised that Boxing Day and tried to play up for these people – and because of the lifestyle he leads, people often give him inducements."

Reports claim that the actor was in a Hampstead Pub on December 26. After he used a disabled toilet, the pub manager discovered crack cocaine fumes coming out and called the police. The court was informed that the actor tested positive for cocaine and opiates, not crack cocaine.

For the unversed, Paul Anderson has been playing Arthur Shelby since the beginning of the show in 2013. He portrays the older brother of Cillian Murphy’s Thomas Shelby. The last episode of Peaky Blinders was aired in April 2022. It is said to make a theatrical comeback by Steven Knight.
