Perilloor Premier League Twitter Review: Nikhila Vimal and Sunny Wayne are Malavika and Sreekuttan respectively in the Malayalam web series now available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Season 1 of the series with 7 episodes promises to be a feel-good watch with situational humour amidst rural politics and a childhood romance. The comedy-drama series is penned by Deepu Pradeep, known for his contributions to 'Kunjiramayanam' and 'Padmini.' Mukesh R Mehta and CV Sarathi are the producers under the E4 Entertainment banner. Cinematography is expertly managed by Anoop V Shylaja and Ameel, with the musical score crafted by Mujeeb Majeed.

Malavika harbours feelings for Sreekuttan and decides to accompany him to the village of Perilloor. Unexpectedly, circumstances lead her to reluctantly enter the Panchayat elections. The narrative unfolds as it explores the reasons behind her decision and the subsequent consequences. Fans swiftly shared their opinions on the film on social media shortly after its release on January 5.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), a user wrote, “Watched 1st episode. Good start. Total of 7 episodes, with a duration of around 4 hours.”

Another user wrote, "Good one, loved it" praising the series.

Another user hailed the web series and wrote, “Perilloor Premier League" on @DisneyPlusHS - a vibrant tapestry of romance, comedy, and rural politics! #NikhilaVimal shines as Malavika in this delightful web series, weaving love, laughter, and unexpected twists! A must-watch! #PerilloorPremierLeague #DisneyPlusHotstar.”

Directed by Praveen Chandran, the title of the web series might suggest a plot surrounding a sports event. However, in a recent interview with The Indian Express, the director said, “The series tells the story of a fictional village and its many supernatural inhabitants. Writer Deepu Pradeep has created some very interesting characters in PPL, much like his work in Kunjiramayanam (2015). While these characters may initially appear innocent, it becomes apparent that they are far from it. The show unfolds from the perspective of a young woman named Malavika (Nikhila Vimal), who arrives at Perilloor to contest a panchayat election and focuses on the people she encounters and the challenges she confronts.”
