Phule Box Office Collection Day 15: Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa starrer biographical drama movie hit the silver screens on April 25, this year. The movie opened at the box office with Rs 15 crore. Since then, Phule has earned in lakhs and maintained the same pace. While maintaining a slow and steady pace, the film is inching closer to the Rs 4 crore mark in India and Rs 4.5 crore globally. According to reports, Phule was made on a budget of Rs 29 crore. It seems difficult for the movie to cross the budget mark, seeing the current pace.
About Phule
The movie is based on the lives of social reformers Jyotirao Phule and Savitribai Phule, who worked for the welfare of society. They together worked for social work, such as educating girl child, opposing the dominance of the caste system. Their work has been showcased in the film and also in the trailer. Ahead of the release, the movie was under huge controversy as it showed the dominance of the upper caste. Netizens on social media termed the movie ‘anti-brahmin’. The boycott of the movie started trending online. However, the film overcame all the blockages and controversy. But Phule could not perform as expected. The movie stars Patralekhaa, Pratik Gandhi, Darsheel Safary, Vinay Pathak and Alexx O'Nell in key roles. It has been directed by Anant Mahadevan and produced by Pranay Chokshi, Ritesh Kudecha, Anuya Chauhan Kudecha, Sunil Jain, Raj Kishore Khaware, Jagdish Patel.
