Ponniyin Selvan 2, starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Chiyaan Vikram, is still earning well at the box office, surpassing Salman Khan’s multi-starrer film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Although its pace of earnings had dipped recently, on day 16, the film again picked up pace which is good news for its fans and cast.

Sachnik reported that Ponniyin Selvan has earned Rs 2.42 crores on its 16th day at the theatres, bringing the total collection to Rs 166.91 crores. While the film has already earned more than Rs 300 crores worldwide, it remains to be seen if it can reach the Rs 200 crore mark in India in the coming weeks.

The film's earnings have been as follows: Rs 24 crores on day one, Rs 26.2 crores on day two, Rs 30.3 crores on day three, Rs 23.25 crores on day four, Rs 10.5 crores on day five, Rs 7.75 crores on day six, and Rs 6.6 crores on day seven, bringing the weekend collection to a total of Rs 128.6 crores.

On day eight, it earned Rs 5.50 crores, Rs 8.7 crores on day nine, Rs 9.7 crores on day 10, Rs 3.05 crores on day 11, Rs 2.65 crores day 12, and Rs 2.66 crores on day 13. It earned Rs 2.2 crores on day 14 and Rs 1.56 crores on day 15.

Released on April 28, Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 had a multi-lingual pan-India release in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi, and was highly anticipated by the audience.

Ponniyin Selvan is a film based on the popular historical fiction novel with the same name authored by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The second part of the movie features an ensemble cast comprising Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha and Jayam Ravi in prominent roles.

The first part of the movie, which was a huge commercial success worldwide, grossed over Rs 500 crore at the box office. Additionally, the film features a supporting cast of Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Vikram Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Parthiban, and Prabhu.
