Malayalam cinema's popular veteran comedian Poojappura Ravi bid adieu at the age of 86 when the actor passed away on June 18. The actor due to his old age stayed away from the movies and the limelight, until his passing away which came as a shock to many.
The veteran actor breathed his last in Marayur, Idukki district where he succumbed to his life due to health-related issues and pertained to old age. The actor leaves behind a popular legacy of his roles which made the audience and his fans laugh.
The actor maintained his turf in the Malayali film fraternity for quite a long period, as he appeared in the black and white films of the 70s and was a part of the new-generation Malayalam films as well, completing more than three decades.
His last release includes 'Guppy' and 'Darvinte Parinaman', which the actor not just acted in films but also in many stage plays and thus received appreciation for them as well. The actor has worked with many popular names from the industry over the years including Prem Nazir, Jayan, Mohanlal, Mammootty, Tovino Thoma, and Prithviraj Sukumaran as well.
Poojappura Ravi was born in Poojappura to Bhavaniyamma and Madhavan Pillai, the actor thus included his birth name in his stage name like several other actors including Kilichundan Mambazham, Nariman, Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu, and Harikrishnans. The actor has a wife Thankamma, a son Hari Kumar, and a daughter Lakshmi.
