The makers of Adipurush, a film directed by Om Raut that released its first teaser last year, declared on Tuesday that it will make its global debut at the forthcoming Tribeca Film Festival.
The teaser for Adipurush had received negative feedback from internet users when it was released, mainly due to its questionable visual effects. Nevertheless, Raut had assured that the grand adaptation of Ramayana would satisfy fans when it is finally shown in cinemas.
Here's the teaser of Adipurush:
Om Raut expressed in a statement that Adipurush is not merely a movie, but rather an emotion and sentiment that reflects the essence of India. He further stated that the film's premiere at Tribeca Festival is a surreal experience for him and the entire team, as it allows them to showcase a story that has been deeply embedded in their culture on a global platform.
"Adipurush is not a film, it is an emotion, a sentiment! It is our vision of a story that resonates with the very spirit of India. This very premiere at Tribeca Festival is truly surreal for me as well as the entire team as we get to showcase a story at global stage that has been very ingrained in our culture. We are truly thrilled and excited to see audiences’ reaction at the world premiere."
Bhushan Kumar, who is financing the film through T-series, also shared his thoughts by stating that it is a proud moment for everyone involved. He acknowledged the Tribeca Festival as one of the most prestigious platforms in the world and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their movie, which is not only a product of hard work but also a representation of Indian history.
"It is indeed a moment of pride for all of us. The Tribeca Festival is one of the world’s most acclaimed platforms and for our movie, which is not only a labour of love but a depiction of Indian History – to be showcased here is humbling, exciting, and overwhelming. Adipurush is going to be a visual treat for all, and I am sure it will have a mesmerising effect on the global audience," he said.
Prabhas, who is the lead actor in Adipurush, expressed his gratitude at the film's premiere at the esteemed Tribeca Festival in New York by stating that it is a privilege to be part of a project that reflects the essence of their country and culture. "To see our Indian films, especially one that is so close to me, Adipurush, reach the global stage makes me extremely proud not only as an actor but as an Indian too," he added.
Apart from Prabhas, Adipurush also stars Sunny Singh, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan in pivotal roles and will hit the theatres on June 16.
