Actress Preity Zinta joined a list of Bollywood celebrities, including Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal, and many others, who attended the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj. There, she immersed herself in the sacred waters of Triveni Sangam. She was accompanied by her mother on this spiritual journey. Sharing her experience of her third visit, the actress called it magical, but a bit sad. She revealed that she wanted to be liberated from the various cycles of life but wasn’t prepared to detach from her family and loved ones after this experience.
Preity Zinta took to her X handle and shared a video from her Mahakumbh experience. In the clip, she can be seen taking a holy dip at Triveni Sangam and visiting temples with her mother, fully embracing her spiritual side. Along with the post, she wrote, “This was my third time at the Kumbh Mela, and it was magical, heartwarming, and a bit sad. It was magical because no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t explain how I felt. It was heartwarming because I went with my mom, and it meant the world to her.”
Reflecting on how this journey was not only magical and heartwarming but also sad, she said, “I wanted to be liberated from the various cycles of life and death, only to realize the duality of life and attachment. Am I ready to let go of my family, my children, and the people I love? No! I’m not!”

Magical because no matter how hard I try, I cannot explain how I felt.
Heartwarming because I went with my mom & it meant the world to her.

The actress also expressed how this journey reinforced the idea that strings of attachment are strong but ultimately spiritual growth is a solo path. "It’s deeply moving and humbling when it dawns on you that the strings of attachment are strong and mighty. No matter what your attachment is, eventually your spiritual journey and the journey ahead is solo! I came back with the notion that we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, but spiritual beings having a human experience. Beyond this, I don’t know, but I’m confident my curiosity will definitely pave the way toward all the answers I seek… till then … Har Har Mahadev," she added.
Mahakumbh is one of the grandest religious gatherings, held every 12 years, and is considered the world’s largest single religious event. This year, the Mahakumbh is especially significant, as it has arrived after 144 years due to the rare alignment of planets. It began on January 13 and will conclude today, February 26, on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri. Visitors from around the world have attended this grand celebration and are returning home with magical experiences for a lifetime. Several Bollywood celebrities, including Sonali Bendre, Tamannaah Bhatia, Rajkummar Rao, Hema Malini, and Anupam Kher, among others, prayed at the Mahakumbh before Preity Zinta arrived.
