Pushpa 2 OTT Release: Pushpa 2: The Rule made a grand worldwide debut on December 5, 2024, releasing in an array of formats including standard, IMAX, 4DX, D-Box and PVR ICE. The film's monumental success at the box office has been nothing short of phenomenal as it has shattered numerous records and amassed an astonishing Rs 1,750 crore (US$180 million) globally. This achievement has catapulted Pushpa 2: The Rule to unprecedented heights, earning it the distinction of being the highest-grossing Indian movie of the year. As the movie continues to shatter records at the box office, the audience awaits its OTT release.
Pushpa 2 OTT Release
Pushpa 2: The Rule will continue its uninterrupted theatrical run throughout the festive season, with no immediate plans for an OTT release before the end of January 2025. According to an official update from Mythri Movie Makers, the film's producers, the movie will maintain its focus on its theatrical run.
Although Netflix has been confirmed as the official OTT partner, streaming is expected to commence only after January 29, 2025, according to a report in Gadget 360.
About Pushpa 2
The sequel to Pushpa was officially announced in December 2021, just before the release of the original film, with the subtitle Pushpa 2: The Rule being revealed in August 2022. Interestingly, 10% of the film's footage was initially shot simultaneously with the first film. However, director Sukumar later decided to alter the story, prompting the commencement of principal photography in October 2022.
The film boasts an impressive technical crew, including music composer Devi Sri Prasad, cinematographer Mirosław Kuba Brożek and editor Naveen Nooli. With a staggering budget of ₹400-500 crore, Pushpa 2: The Rule is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made and its 200-minute runtime makes it one of the longest Indian movies in history.
The film's narrative revolves around Pushpa Raj, a humble coolie who has ascended to become a prominent sandalwood smuggler. However, his newfound success is short-lived, as he finds himself confronted with formidable opposition from his adversaries, including the formidable SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat IPS.
