R Madhavan, who is gearing up for the release of Hisaab Barabar, recently talked about the movie’s direct OTT release. He stated that there is a firm line between what works on the digital pace and which film deserves a theatrical release. The actor believes that what is more important is the storyline and the actors’ performance. He boosted confidence about Hisaab Barabar being an OTT film. Madhavan also shared his take on stardom-affecting characters.
In an interview with The Tribune, R Madhavan said “There is a firm line between what works on streamers and which films deserve a theatrical release. What you need are good performances and an intriguing storyline. On that count, Hisaab Barabar is an OTT film.”
“It is easy for me to play it like a star, but then the empathy for the character would be lost. Stories of underdogs, of those who make it against all odds, say a rickshawallah’s son becoming an Indian Air Force pilot, are more potent than superhero sagas. These are Herculean efforts that surpass all other achievements and even stardom,” he added.
He also said, “Content is now the king. Earlier, stardom was all that mattered. Now a well-intended story, whether it comes from North or South, works wonders. Besides, OTT has made us privy to cinema in all languages, especially from the South and built a fan base. So, Pushpa 2 in Hindi does more business than the one in its original language.”
Coming back to Hisaab Barabar, the story follows the life of Radhe Mohan, who is an honest TC working for Indian Railways. He sets out to uncover a massive financial fraud by banker Mickey Mehta. The movie features R Madhavan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kirti Kulhari, Rashami Desai, Sukumar Tudu, Sachin Viddrrohi and Asad Alvi in key roles. Hisaab Barabar is set to be released on Zee5 on January 24.
While sharing the trailer of Hisaab Barabar, makers wrote on Instagram “System hilne wala hai, scammers darne wale hai! Ab ek aam aadmi karega #HisaabBarabar. #HisaabBarabar premieres 24th January, only on #ZEE5. #HisaabBarabarOnZEE5.”
