Raayan On OTT: South Indian superstar Dhanush’s thriller movie, which premiered in theatres on July 26, 2024, has received rave reviews and become one of the top-grossing Tamil films of the year. The film is set for its OTT debut in September 2024. Reports claim that Raayan will stream on SUN NXT and potentially on Prime Video. Directed and written by Dhanush, the movie typically follows a four-week window before its digital release.

Raayan: Release Date and Platform

Dhanush's 50th film is now in its second week in theatres. According to trade reports, the film has garnered Rs 80.20 crore nett at the domestic box office after 12 days. Globally, it has earned Rs 126.75 crore to date. After successful theater run, now, reports claimed Raayan could be available on Prime Video by August 30, but this has not yet been officially confirmed.

Raayan: Plot

Since its July 26 release, the action-packed Tamil and Telugu film Raayan has attracted significant attention and impressive earnings. Featuring a stellar cast including SJ Suryah, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Dushara Vijayan, Prakash Raj, and Saravanan, along with surprise cameos, Raayan has achieved a strong start and continues to perform well at the box office.

Set in 1990, Raayan follows the life of a humble hotel manager, Raayan, who takes on the responsibility of caring for his siblings—Muthu, Durga, and Muthuvelraayan—after their parents mysteriously disappear. Years later, as Raayan plans Durga's wedding and sells his hotel to provide her with a dowry, his world unravels when Durga is kidnapped.

In a shocking twist, Raayan is betrayed by his own brothers, who stab him while he attempts to rescue Durga. The film explores Raayan’s struggle to confront this betrayal and protect his sister.

Raayan: Cast

The cast includes Dhanush as Raayan, Selvaraghavan as Sekhar, Dushara Vijayan as Durga, Prakash Raj as the Police Commissioner, Kalidas Jayaram as Manickavelraayan, Dilipan as Guru, Aparna Balamurali as Megala, Divya Pillai as Annam Sethuraman, Devadarshini Sukumaran as a Nurse, and Sha Ra as Kothandam.

Raayan was made with a total budget of ₹90 crore, encompassing both production and marketing expenses. Set against the gritty backdrop of North Chennai, the film is both written and directed by Dhanush, who devoted nearly six months to perfecting his second directorial venture, including intensive post-production work. Praised for its gripping narrative and AR Rahman's evocative score, Raayan has received widespread acclaim from audiences.
