Rajat Dalal has finally responded to the backlash surrounding his recent comments about Bigg Boss 18 finalist Chum Darang. The controversy began when a video from Elvish Yadav’s podcast went viral, showing both Rajat and Elvish making racist remarks about Chum. While Elvish is already facing legal trouble, Rajat has now shared his side of the story.
During the launch event of Entertainers Cricket League (ECL) 2, Rajat addressed the issue in a conversation with CNN-News18 Showsha. He explained that his remarks were meant as a ‘roast’ and not intended to offend anyone. However, his statement—“If somebody was hurt, let it be, I cannot do anything"—has further fueled the criticism.

Earlier this month, Elvish Yadav made a shocking remark about Chum Darang, mocking her name and film career. While speaking with Rajat Dalal, he ridiculed Chum’s appearance and even made inappropriate comments about her work in Gangubai Kathiawadi.
Reacting to this, Chum Darang took to social media to express her disappointment. She pointed out that mocking someone’s identity and achievements should not be dismissed as humour. “Disrespecting someone’s identity and name is not ‘fun.’ Mocking someone’s achievements is not ‘banter.’ It’s time we draw the line between humour and hate," she wrote.
Following the backlash, the National Commission for Women (NCW) took strict action against Elvish Yadav. He was summoned to address his remarks, and the issue has since sparked widespread discussions about racism and discrimination against people from North-East India. Despite the criticism, Rajat Dalal has remained firm in his stance, stating that he never intended to hurt anyone. However, his response has not gone down well with netizens, many of whom believe he should take more accountability for his words.
