Superstar Rajinikanth is currently basking in the success of his latest action drama film 'Jailer'. He has announced his next film 'Thalaivar 171' in collaboration with 'Kaithi' director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The news has been announced by the production house Sun Pictures, who produced 'Jailer' as well. The official title and the details about the film's plot have not been revealed yet.

Announcing the film, the official X account of Sun Pictures wrote, "We are happy to announce Superstar @rajinikanth’s #Thalaivar171. Written & Directed by @Dir_Lokesh. An @anirudhofficial musical. Action by @anbariv."

Lokesh Kanagaraj also expressed his excitement about working with Rajinikanth and posted on X, "Excited to be joining hands with Thalaivar @rajinikanth Sir for #Thalaivar171 with @sunpictures."

On the work front, Lokesh is also working on the sequel to his blockbuster film 'Kaithi'. The movie revolves around a recently released prisoner who has to drive poisoned cops to a hospital in exchange for meeting his daughter. It stars Karthi, Narain, Arjun Das, Harish Uthaman, George Maryan, and Dheena.

The story of 'Kaithi' is followed by 'Vikram', starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role. The movie revolves around a black ops squad, that is assigned to track down a group of ruthless vigilantes and also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Fahadh Faasil, Narain and Kalidas Jayaram.

Both 'Kaithi' and 'Vikram' belong to the same universe but have different storylines. The story will continue in 'Leo', starring Thalapathy Vijay in the lead role. As per reports, 'Thalaivar 171' will be a stand-alone film.

Rajinikanth will be seen in 'Lal Salaam' alongside Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles. He has also collaborated with director TJ Gnanvel for 'Thalaivar 170'. As per reports, 'Thalaivar 170' is based on a true incident and Rajinikanth will be seen in the role of a cop.
