The iconic duo Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are all set to reunite for a new movie. The Thug Life actor recently confirmed the collaboration at the SIIMA Awards in Dubai. Now, Thalaivar has shared a major update about the same. While addressing the media at the Chennai airport, Rajinikanth revealed that he is doing a film with Raaj Kamal Films International, Kamal Haasan's production house. He expressed his keeness to share screen space with the actor again, but emphasised the need of good script and a director for the venture.

Rajinikanth opened up about his upcoming film, which is being bankrolled by Raaj Kamal Films International (RKFI) and Red Giant Films. Speaking about his reunion with Kamal Haasan, the Coolie actor said. "I am doing a film with Raaj Kamal Films International and Red Giant Movies next." When prodded if he was excited about collaborating with Kamal Haasan for the project, he said, "Director hasn't been decided yet. It's my wish to act with him. But, we need a proper script and character. The plan is there. We're yet to decide on the director."

What Did Kamal Haasan Say About Reunion With Rajinikanth?

During his appearance at SIIMA Awards, Haasan was asked if fans could expect a film with Rajinikanth, to this he replied, “We don’t know if it’s a Tharamana Sambavam (wonderful occurrence) but it’s good if the audience likes it. If they’re happy, we’ll like it. Otherwise, we’ll continue trying. This was long coming. We were separate because they gave one biscuit to both of us. But the half biscuit makes us both happy, so we’ll come together." After this, excitement sparked among their fans as the two will be collaborating after 46 years. Their last film together was Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum in 1979.

Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is gearning praise for his performance in the action drama Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film also starred Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and others. It also included a special cameo by Aamir Khan. Coolie is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Kamal Haasan, on the other hand, was last seen in a lead role for the Mani Ratnam directorial Thug Life.
