Rajiv Thakur Denies Knowing About IC 814 Controversy; Actor Regrets Not Prepping For His ‘Terrorist’ Role

Rajiv Thakur is one of the popular faces of Indian Television. The actor is known for his comedy roles in shows like The Kapil Sharma Show, Comedy Circus Ke Superstars and Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo to name a few. He was last seen in a pivotal role in Anubhav Sinha’s IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. Rajiv played the role of one of the main terrorists in the controversial web series. He admitted that he does not have much knowledge about the ongoing controversy around the show. The actor also shared that he did not have much time for prep for the role. 

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Rajiv said “It was such a big show and I should have done some prep. When I met the other actors who played the hijackers, they had read books. I am thankful that Anubhav Sinha sir, the associate director and the writers explained my character to me. In the series, I was only associated with Vijay Varma (actor) and (the character) Doctor.” 

“When someone does good work, it can’t be buried. I’ve got such good reactions for my role. My friends and Insta followers are sending me messages. Some said I was unrecognisable.” 

Recently, the actor shared on Instagram “Thank you so much for pouring so much love for my character #ic814onnetflix .. I am overwhelmed nd words are too less to express my gratitude to all of you.. I am truely grateful to @anubhavsinhaa @castingchhabra @netflix_in @monika__shergill for believing in me for such an important role.. special thanks to my bro @kapilsharma to manage his dates to allow me to do this ..”
